Finally Back on Track! Formula 1 Returns to Singapore

September 30 2022

Hit the gas, F1 is back for the weekend!

After a two-year hiatus, Formula 1 Grand Prix is finally speeding back into Singapore’s highways this 30 September to 2 October.

When the Singapore Grand Prix was cancelled last 2020 no thanks to the Covid pandemic, it left fans all over the world (me included) devastated and the three-year wait has only gotten us even more hungry for some racing action.

Now that the racing spectacle is having a grand comeback, we can finally go back to experiencing the thrill, hearing the roaring engines, joining in with the cheers, and seeing our favourite teams race around the Marina Bay Street circuit.

For those wondering what’s the Formula 1 hype all about, it is the highest level of international motorsport racing that is jam-packed with entertainment, drama, and pure adrenaline rush. It really does have a knack in bringing intense emotions out of race enthusiasts.

To make it even more special, the Singapore Grand Prix is the first ever in F1 history to host night street racing. Taking it up a notch, Singapore is also making efforts into making this event as environmentally sustainable as possible by using bio-fuels and carbon-neutral sources of energy. How eco is that?

Speaking of the Grand Prix, we also can’t ignore another thing Singapore is known for – humidity. The tracks are one thing, and Singapore’s unpredictable weather is another. To prepare for the heat, some racers even had to practice in a sauna! Did you know that F1 drivers lose about 2-3 kilograms during a race due to high gravitational forces and lack of hydration?

The fun doesn't end in just the racing tracks. What is F1 without the racing-themed events painting the city red? Even beyond the tracks, there is a great deal of entertainment to look forward to with all the parties, festivities, live concerts, and art exhibits that come along with the grand racing event.

Concert lovers would be throwing their hands in the air with special international performances by Green Day, Westlife, Marshmello, and more!

You really can’t blame F1 enthusiasts for the sold-out seats, booked hotel rooms, and for all the talk and excitement for this grand weekend. It gets people all riled up and emotional.

Formula 1 is not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle.
