A classic video game loved by generations, The Super Mario Bros Movie premiered last 6 April 2023 in Singapore.

Prior to its release, the animated film made buzz as a cluster of sceptics expressed their concerns over voice casting decisions, and whether the film will live up to the hype or just become a video-game-turned-film-turned-disappointment (an avid fan’s worst nightmare).

Turns out, the film ended up becoming an epic cinematic experience with the vibrant animation, excellent voice acting, and superb music score. It also ended up being the most financially successful film of 2023, surpassing US$1 billion of global earnings as of 30 April.

The Super Mario Bros Movie is a video game retelling done right, a nostalgic journey down memory lane for every gamer who grew up playing the Mario franchise, whether it’s Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, or Super Smash Bros.

More than anything, we’re just so glad to see our Mario and friends again.

Race down the Rainbow Road and catch all the Easter eggs (or mushrooms, if you will) in The Super Mario Bros in your nearest cinema! And to hear Jack Black’s phenomenal performance as Bowser! (Peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches, peaches…)
